Nick Birks
Lead Structural Engineer
Nick graduated from UWA in 1997 and has 18 years of experience in structural and civil engineering. He has worked in the resource industry since 2005 and has spent the majority of this time working on innovative projects that have met or exceeded the client’s requirements. These include the Cape Lambert Port B Temporary Works (Australian Construction Achievement Award 2013), North Rankin Drill Derrick Deconstruction and Honeywell PNG LNG Local Equipment Rooms – refer to the case study section for details of AEC’s role in these projects.
Nick is committed to a strong HSE culture and applies this to all aspects of his work. His approach to engineering design can be relied on for practical solutions that save time on the construction site.
Nick has recently gained sufficient exposure to the offshore oil and gas environment to understand the key drivers that lead to successful implementation of offshore brownfield projects. This has expanded his capabilities and he is now able to carry out concept/select phase studies for complex offshore projects such as replacement of platform cranes.
